Taylor Widener coughs up five runs in loss to Texas

by Jon Mathisen | Braves Correspondent | Wed, Jul 28th 12:24am EDT

RHP Taylor Widener allowed five runs on five hits with five walks and three strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings as the D-Backs lost to the Rangers 5-4 on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Widener made it through the first three innings unscathed, despite allowing six base runners. He ran into big trouble in the fourth frame as he allowed a two-run double to Nathaniel Lowe and a three-run homer to Joey Gallo. He was yanked at 3 2/3 innings and the D-Backs were unable to take the lead so he was saddled with the loss. The 26-year-old hurler now owns a 4.42 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 36:16 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings. He'll get the Giants at home in his next start.
