Alex Reyes pitches scoreless inning for 24th save on Tuesday

by Lucas Spence | Wed, Jul 28th 10:10am EDT

Alex Reyes closed out the Indians in a 4-2 victory on Tuesday, picking up his 24th save of the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Reyes did hit a batter and didn't record any strikeouts but otherwise got through the inning unscathed. One of the former top pitching prospects in all of baseball, Reyes is now 24-for-25 in saves this season functioning as the Cardinals full-time closer with an impressive 1.93 ERA in 2021. Given his success in the bullpen, it will be interesting to see if the Cardinals decide to keep him in the closer role next season, although one would imagine the team still plans to transition the 26-year-old back to being a starting pitcher next spring.
