Jesus Luzardo traded to Marlins in Starling Marte deal

by Brendan Tuma | Marlins Correspondent | Wed, Jul 28th 1:16pm EDT

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports the Marlins are acquiring Jesus Luzardo in exchange for Starling Marte (Jon Heyman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Additionally, the Marlins are paying the entirety of Marte's remaining contract, so they're essentially paying to take on Luzardo. The southpaw was considered one of the best pitching prospects in baseball at this time last season, but he has struggled mightily in 2021. He was demoted to Triple-A earlier this year and has a 6.52 ERA in eight starts alongside a weak 26:15 K:BB ratio. Luzardo remains worth stashing in dynasty leagues. Miami has done a lot of great work with young pitchers in recent years, so perhaps they can help get him back on track.
