Drew Smyly goes four-plus innings Thursday

by Steve Painter | Cubs Correspondent | Thu, Jul 29th 11:13pm EDT

Drew Smyly pitched four-plus innings against the Mets Thursday, allowing nine hits, three runs (all earned), and one walk while striking out six batters. He was chased after a Pete Alonso home run in the fifth (no outs). The Braves' offense came alive to seal the 6-3 win although Smyly didn't pitch the required innings to get a win or quality start. He threw 85 pitches, 56 for strikes. He carries a 4.40 ERA.

Fantasy Impact:

It's apparent that Smyly can get through a lineup once or twice, but the third time through is definitely a no-no. And that, of course, puts a dent in his fantasy value.
