Kyle Gibson earns win over Pirates in Phillies debut
by Mike Maher | Cardinals Correspondent | Mon, Aug 2nd 11:30am EDT
Newly-acquired starter Kyle Gibson allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 6 2/3 innings in Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Fantasy Impact:
The Phillies desperately needed pitching help and were able to acquire Gibson and reliever Ian Kennedy at the trade deadline, though it came at the steep price of former top prospect Spencer Howard. Gibson earned the win in his Phillies debut and will look to continue his strong season in his next start against the Mets at home.
