Jack Flaherty (oblique) makes triumphant return to mound in win over Royals

by Lucas Spence | Tigers Correspondent | Fri, Aug 13th 11:50pm EDT

After missing nearly 2 1/2 months of action, Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty returned to the mound and did not miss a beat on Friday, pitching six shutout innings while allowing just a pair of hits and striking out five in a win over the Royals.

Fantasy Impact:

Flaherty cruised all evening, throwing just 81 pitches (52 strikes) in a dominant performance, surrendering just a pair of singles. The right-hander showed impressive command and improved his record to 9-1 on the season with a spectacular 2.65 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. The 25-year-old is an absolute difference-making addition for both the Cardinals and fantasy managers heading into the final stretch of the season. He'll face the division-leading Brewers at home his next time out.
