What does the Hanley Ramirez injury mean for the Red Sox

by James McGowan | Wed, May 6th 3:30pm EDT

Hanley Ramirez left Tuesdays game after cathing a fly ball and crashing into the left field wall. It was later released that he has a sprain in his left shoulder which has already been operated on twice. He is currently listed as day-to-day and its looking better that he may return to the line-up soon and not have to go on the DL. (Baseball Tonight Official Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

So what does this mean for the Red Sox. The Red Sox have struggled offensively lately not getting enough runs to win after falling behind early in games. The pitching staff also have not been able to shut down the other teams offense early in starts. Without Ramirez the Red Sox lose their biggest offensive contributer. If the red sox are going to get anywhere without Ramirez then the pitching staff needs to step up and start pitching, good baseball deep into games. Look for key younger guys to start stepping and trying to fill Ramirez's role like Mookie Betts, and zander bogarts. Also look for David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval to take over the offensive duties. It'll be interesting to see if the Red Sox will bring up Rusney Castillo to fill the gap in left field if Allen Craig doesn't workout. No matter what happens the Red Sox need to get Hanley Ramirez back in order to climbout of the basement of the AL east.
