Diego Castillo blows the save Thursday in ugly appearance

by Ari Koslow | Rangers Correspondent | Fri, Aug 20th 1:33am EDT

Diego Castillo blew the save on Thursday against Texas, allowing two runs on one hit over one inning with two strikeouts and one walk.

Fantasy Impact:

Castillo entered a situation in the ninth inning with runners on second and third, nobody out and the Mariners up 7-3. After striking out the first batter he faced, he walked the next batter on a pitch that also scored a run on a wild pitch. He picked up another strikeout for the second out of the inning before allowing a gut wrenching three-run long ball that tied the game to blow a phenomenal start by Chris Flexen. Paul Sewald later picked up the save in the 11th inning. This will be a situation to monitor to see if Sewald eventually takes over the closer role in the Mariners bullpen.
