Tyler Gilbert allows three earned runs in loss

by Jon Mathisen | Reds Correspondent | Tue, Aug 31st 1:57am EDT

LHP Tyler Gilbert took the loss on Monday when he allowed five runs--three earned--with eight hits, one walk, and four strikeouts as the Diamondbacks lost to the Padres 7-5.

Fantasy Impact:

Gilbert was hit around by the Padres on Monday, surrendering eight hits over his five innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. smacked a two-run homer off him in the first inning but runs were unearned due to a Josh Rojas fielding error that should have ended the inning earlier. He served up three more runs over the next few innings with three RBI singles. The average outing now gives Gilbert a 2.93 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 20:10 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings (seven appearances, four starts). He'll get the Mariners at home in his next turn.
