Gerrit Cole expected to avoid IL stint

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is expected to make a start next week, according to manager Aaron Boone. The right-hander is dealing with left hamstring tightness but should be able to avoid a stint on the injured list. (Lindsey Adler on Twitter)

Cole exited his start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday after just 3.2 innings. The 31-year-old has made 26 starts this season, going 14-7 with a 2.78 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and .210 OBA. He has walked 34 batters and recorded an MLB-most 217 strikeouts.
