RHP Kevin Gausman took the loss on Thursday when he allowed four runs on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over five innings in the Giants' 7-4 loss to the Padres.
Gausman didn't pitch poorly on Thursday, striking out seven and only walking one, but the Padres are a tough out. He served up a solo homer to Fernando Tatis Jr. as well as a pair of RBI to Tommy Pham. The Giants couldn't get enough going on offense to pick Gausman up so he was saddled with his sixth loss of the season. He now owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 208:49 K/BB ratio over 175 innings (30 starts). He'll take on these same Padres on the road in his next start.
