Paul Goldschmidt's 30th home run powers Cardinals to 13th straight win

by Lucas Spence | Cardinals Correspondent | Fri, Sep 24th 5:21pm EDT

Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an RBI single in an 8-5 win over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

Fantasy Impact:

Goldschmidt's two-run homer in the third inning gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish. Teammate Tyler O'Neill also hit his 30th home run, giving St. Louis a trio of sluggers (along with Nolan Arenado) to cross the 30-HR plateau this season. Goldschmidt and O'Neill in particular have been absolutely on fire in the month of September as St. Louis continues their improbable surge towards the postseason.
