Kevin Gausman fires seven strong innings on Saturday

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Sat, Oct 2nd 9:45pm EDT

RHP Kevin Gausman took a no-decision on Saturday when he allowed one run on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts over seven innings in the Giants' 3-2 loss to the Padres.

Fantasy Impact:

Gausman certainly pitched well enough to earn the win on Saturday but the Giants weren't able to put up enough runs to support him. The only run he allowed came via a Manny Machado RBI single in the sixth inning. Gausman was the Giants' unquestioned ace this season, compiling a 2.81 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 227:50 K/BB ratio over 192 innings (33 starts). He'll be sure to start San Francisco's first playoff game next week.
