Paul Sewald allowed three runs on one hit over one inning with three strikeouts and two walks.
Sewald entered the game in the eighth inning with Seattle leading 3-1. He did not have his offspeed pitches early, walking both Brandon Marsh and Shohei Ohtani to open the frame. After striking out Phil Gosselin, he delivered a fastball right up the middle that Jared Walsh crushed for a three-run home run. After Sewald delivered in so many situations for Seattle the rest of the season, the Mariners offense backed up Sewald with three runs of their own the next half inning to give Sewald the win.
