Detroit Tigers right-hander Matt Manning threw five scoreless innings in a 5-4 loss to the White Sox on Saturday. Manning struck out seven and walked one.
Manning had an up-and-down season but he finished it off on a positive note. The rookie hurler was once a highly-regarded prospect in the Detroit pipeline, setting him up for some post-hype breakout appeal in 2022. He wraps his 2021 season with a 4-7 record, 5.80 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts over 85 1/3 innings.
