The Phillies have declined their 2022 club option on veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen. He'll receive a $3 million buyout instead of a $15 million contract for next season. (Philadelphia Phillies on Twitter)
McCutchen, a 13-year MLB veteran, slashed .222/.334/.444 with 27 homers and 81 RBI in 2021. Although he walked in 14.1 percent of plate appearances, which was the second-best mark of his career, he also posted a career-worst 23.0 percent strikeout rate.
