Brett Anderson strikes out seven Giants

by Stan Son | Thu, May 21st 12:23am EDT

Brett Anderson pitched 6.1 innings Wednesday night in San Francisco. He pitched brilliantly but two walks really cost him and directly led to two earned runs. Anderson allowed six hits, three earned runs, three total walks, and struck out seven. 67-of-112 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

The final line doesn't show how well Anderson pitched. The Giants did not get on the board until the sixth inning. In addition, one of the earned runs charged to Anderson occurred when Yimi Garcia replaced him in the seventh inning and promptly allowed a two-run home run to Buster Posey. Anderson threw his fastball in the 92 mph range and mixed in a 78 mph curveball and 84 mph slider. This makes back-to-back games of 7+ strikeouts. Anderson has proven he's more than a spot-starter. He makes a viable SP 5. Just be wary of his extensive injury history.
