Matt Cain not expected back until after All-Star Break

by Jeff Krisko | Fri, May 22nd 4:45pm EDT

Matt Cain had a 35-40 pitch bullpen session today, but admitted he won't be back until after the All-Star Break. (KNBR)

Fantasy Impact:

Cain was placed on the 15-day DL with a flexor tendon strain without throwing a pitch this season. This comes after he was put on the DL last season after undergoing elbow surgery. With Cain's current timetable, it will be over a year since he last pitched in a regular season game. He used to be one of baseball's dominant pitchers, but has fallen off the last few years. He's worth monitoring when he gets back, but don't go running to the waiver wire to stash him.
