Patrick Corbin tosses quality start in loss to Marlins Thursday

by Dan Harris | Nationals Correspondent | Thu, Apr 28th 10:28pm EDT

Patrick Corbin allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over six innings on Thursday against the Marlins. He struck out eight and took the loss, falling to 0-4.

Fantasy Impact:

There were a lot of encouraging signs for Corbin in this start, including a 36% CSW rate and 14 whiffs, including seven with his slider. He obviously hasn't been good this season, but his 8.69 ERA carries with it a 3.69 FIP and 4.48 xFIP. He's also striking out more than 10 batters per nine innings. If you roster Corbin, you're likely in a deep mixed or NL-only league. Given his expected stats, he's worth holding in those formats. He'll take on the Rockies in Colorado next week.
