Brandon Woodruff pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing four hits, three runs, and two homers while striking out 12 in Milwaukee's 6-3 win over Cincinnati.
Woodruff looked like the right-handed ace fantasy managers drafted in the early rounds. While his ERA remains an unseemly 5.18, his WHIP has corrected and sits at 1.19. The 12 strikeouts are also a good sign; it marks the third straight outing where he struck out batters at a higher than 9.0 K/9 rate. The other good news is his expected ERA is 3.07, so we can anticipate significant positive regression in the future.
