Lucas Sims strikes out the side, earns win over Pirates

by Andersen Pickard | Reds Correspondent | Sun, May 8th 8:30am EDT

Reds reliever Lucas Sims delivered a scoreless eighth inning against the Pirates during Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader. He gave up two hits and one walk but escaped the jam by striking out three consecutive batters. The 27-year-old earned the win as Cincinnati defeated Pittsburgh by a score of 9-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Sims allowed five runs in his last outing on May 4, so it was relieving to see him settle down on Saturday. The three strikeouts look nice from a fantasy perspective, but it was a bit concerning that he first loaded the bases without recording an out. Sims is only relevant in deeper fantasy leagues.
