Max Scherzer allowed one run on three hits and two walks over seven innings on Friday against the Mariners. He struck out seven and did not factor into the decision.
Scherzer's velocity was down a bit in Friday's start, but he was still excellent, generating 12 whiffs and a 30% CSW rate while allowing just three hard-hit balls. Even at his advanced age, he just keeps rolling along, with a 2.66 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and elite strikeout and walk rates. If you're looking for signs of decline, you're just not going to find any, and unless Scherzer succumbs to an injury, he's nearly a lock to be a top-ten fantasy starter this year. He will take on the Cardinals in his next start.
