Jose Berrios tosses seven shutout innings on Tuesday against Mariners

by Dan Harris | Blue Jays Correspondent | Tue, May 17th 11:00pm EDT

Jose Berrios pitched seven shutout innings on Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing six hits and two walks. He struck out four and earned the win, moving to 3-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Berrios had allowed 11 earned runs over his last two starts, so this was a welcomed bounce-back start for the veteran. He had an outstanding 35% CSW rate, though he continued to struggle to miss bats, generating just four whiffs on the night. One good start against an underperforming offense does not erase Berrios's poor year, and the fact that he struck out four or fewer hitters for the fifth time in eight starts is frustrating. But it's certainly a step in the right direction, and should make fantasy managers feel more confident starting him in his next outing against the Cardinals.
