Tanner Houck credited with win following long relief outing

by Andersen Pickard | Red Sox Correspondent | Thu, May 19th 11:04pm EDT

Red Sox reliever Tanner Houck delivered four scoreless innings of work out of the bullpen against the Mariners on Thursday. His final line included just one hit, one walk, six strikeouts, and the win. Boston ultimately defeated Seattle by a score of 12-6.

Fantasy Impact:

Houck helped stop the bleeding after Rich Hill's shaky start, then managed to halt Seattle's scoring so that Boston could tie the game (and eventually take the lead). The 25-year-old right-hander is 3-3 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and .222 OBA through nine games (four starts) this season. He has now allowed just one run over his last seven innings of work and has been more effective as a reliever than starter. It will be interesting to see if Boston keeps him in its bullpen down the stretch.
