Matt Carpenter released by the Rangers

by Jesse Garcia | Yankees Correspondent | Fri, May 20th 2:05pm EDT

The Texas Rangers released first baseman Matt Carpenter from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. It was a mutal decision and Carpenter is now a free agent. (Kennedi Landry on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Carpenter played 21 games this year at the Triple-A level and slashed .275/.379/.613. He spent the offseason working on his swing and was looking for it to pay off by making it back to the major leagues with his hometown Rangers. The veteran has not been fantasy relevant for a few years and likely will not be this season.
