Luis Severino fires seven scoreless innings in Game 2 Sunday

by Luke Monaldo | Mets Correspondent | Mon, May 23rd 1:14am EDT

Luis Severino pitched seven innings, scattering eight hits to allow no runs, while striking out five and walking none in New York's 5-0 loss the White Sox in Game 2 of Sunday's double header.

Fantasy Impact:

The final score buries the lede but Severino's best start so far this season was squandered by a bullpen (Loaisiga 4, Castro 1) that gave up all five runs in the 8th inning. Severino matched Chicago's flamethrower Michael Kopech's seven scoreless innings before the wheels fell off for everyone not named Severino in Sunday's Game 2. Seve is 3-0 with a 3.02 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings across his first eight starts of 2022. The 28-year old righty's next start is scheduled for Friday in Tampa.
