Nestor Cortes Jr pitched eight innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five in New York's 7-2 win against the Rays on Thursday.

Nestor Cortes Jr improves to 4-1 with a 1.70 ERA and 0.85 WHIP to go with 61 strikeouts in 53 innings across nine starts this season. Cortes gave up three runs in his last start after only giving up three runs all of April but was back to his Cy Young contender form Thursday night in Tampa. The lefty's next start is set for Wednesday against the visiting Angels.
