Clay Holmes nails down sixth save Friday

by Luke Monaldo | Yankees Correspondent | Sat, May 28th 7:28am EDT

Clay Holmes pitched a perfect 9th inning while striking out two to record his sixth save in New York's 2-0 win against Tampa on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Clay Holmes now carries a sparkling 0.36 ERA and 0.69 WHIP and has struck out 26 in 24 2/3 innings this season. Holmes has not allowed a run in 22 consecutive appearances, having not allowed a run since Game 1 of the season back on April 8. Holmes has slotted nicely in the New York's closer role with Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) sidelined and anchored the bullpen through the recent storm of injuries. While Chapman is out the lion's share of the save opportunities will go to Holmes.
