With Mike Zunino landing on the injured list, the Rays recalled catcher Rene Pinto from Triple-A on Saturday. He instantly drew the start against the Twins but went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He was eventually replaced by pinch-hitter and fellow backstop Francisco Mejia. Tampa Bay ultimately fell to Minnesota by a score of 6-5.
Fantasy Impact:
Pinto, a rookie, is 3-for-18 with one homer, two RBI, zero walks, and eight strikeouts through six MLB games. He had been enjoying much more success at Triple-A where he slashed .266/.349/.508 with six homers through 36 games.
