James Kaprielian strikes out seven in strong outing Tuesday

by Josh Thiessen | Wed, Jun 22nd 10:19am EDT

James Kaprielian pitched 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday, striking out seven, walking two, and allowing five hits for two earned runs as he took the loss to the Mariners in a 8-2 game.

Fantasy Impact:

Kaprielian pitched well Tuesday despite the loss, which was partly due to his team providing little run support as Tony Gonsolin of the Dodgers allowed the same amount to score Tuesday but ended on the other side of the column with his ninth win. The Athletics starting pitcher has a rather high ERA of 5.98 with a near average WHIP of 1.48, and with the loss he now pitches with a record of 0-5. The 28 year old should not be rostered at the moment as he does not strike out batsman in bunches with just 34 punch-outs over 46 2/3 innings pitched. Kaprielian's next start will come against the Royals on Sunday the 26th and that is a matchup that managers could exploit if need be.
