Zack Greinke goes six strong, earns first win in return from IL Friday

by Luke Monaldo | Sat, Jun 25th 2:27am EDT

Zack Greinke pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out four in Kansas City’s 3-1 win against Oakland on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Greinke pitched as well as he has all season in his first start back from an IL stint for a flexor strain. It was the first time Greinke had allowed fewer than two runs in a start since May 2 against St.Louis and the fourth time in five starts dating back to May 13 he has Derrick out at least four batters. Greinke improved to 1-4 and lowered his ERA from 5.05 to 4.68 in 11 starts. The win marked Greinke’s first win since last season and his first in his second stint in Kansas City. Fantasy managers have to be happy with Greinke’s first start back as it marked one of his better starts of the season. Greinke’s next start is scheduled for Wednesday when the Rangers come to town.
