Tanner Houck closes out Cleveland Saturday

by Andersen Pickard | Red Sox Correspondent | Sat, Jun 25th 9:23pm EDT

Red Sox reliever Tanner Houck tossed an efficient ninth inning against the Guardians on Saturday, retiring all three batters he faced. He worked quickly, requiring just seven pitches (six strikes) en route to earning the save. Boston ultimately defeated Cleveland by a score of 4-2, extending its winning streak to six games.

Fantasy Impact:

Houck owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and .243 OBA through 46 1/3 innings on the mound this season. He has also posted 8.94 K/9, 3.11 BB/9, and a career-best 4.1 percent barrel rate. The right-hander has been effective since shifting to the bullpen, racking up one hold and six saves. He looks like Boston's top closer right now, and it's not preposterous to assume he should retain the role even after Matt Barnes returns from the IL.
