Chris Sale (rib) strikes out six in rehab outing

by Andersen Pickard | Braves Correspondent | Mon, Jun 27th 6:56am EDT

Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale impressed during his second rehab outing in the Florida Complex League on Saturday. He posted a final line of three hits, zero walks, and six strikeouts over the course of 2 2/3 scoreless innings. (MassLive.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Not only did Sale post good stats, but he also touched 96 mph with his four-seam fastball. This is great news for then veteran southpaw who suffered a stress fracture in his rib cage during the offseason. He’s been on the 60-day IL ever since but is nearing a return as Boston looks to build him up to five innings. Sale will pitch in Double-A on Thursday, then face Triple-A competition the following week. The organization hopes it can activate Sale by early July, with MassLive's Christopher Smith speculating that he could return on July 11 or 12 in Tampa Bay.
