Astros starter Framber Valdez completely shut down the New York Mets Tuesday. He tossed eight scoreless innings, scattering six hits and two walks while striking out five.
Valdez improved to 8-3 on the season as the Astros cruised to a 9-1 victory. The southpaw has been overshadowed this season by Justin Verlander's incredible return to baseball. But the 28-year-old is having a fantastic season in his own right. He owns a 2.65 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 80 K's across 95 innings. He'll look to keep it going next time out against the Angels.
