Clay Holmes picks up second save in less than 24 hours Wednesday

by Luke Monaldo | Yankees Correspondent | Thu, Jun 30th 8:12am EDT

Clay Holmes pitched one inning, allowing no runs on no hits and zero walks while striking out none to close out his 14th save in New York’s 5-3 win against Oakland on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Holmes pitched a perfect 9th inning on Wednesday to earn his 14th save in 15 chances and his second save in as many nights. It was the 9th time Holmes has pitched on consecutive days this season. Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) is expected to be activated from the 15-day IL either Thursday or Friday but Holmes will remain Aaron Boone’s “high leverage” go-to guy.
