Chris Bassitt scratched from Friday start, headed to IL

by Mike Maher | Mets Correspondent | Fri, Jul 1st 3:25pm EDT

Chris Bassitt has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Texas Rangers on Friday and is being placed on the IL. However, Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo reports that this move is due to a non-injury issue. David Peterson will start for the Mets tonight. (Anthony DiComo on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Through 89 2/3 innings this season, Bassitt has pitched to a 4.01 ERA with 95 strikeouts and a 1.15 WHIP. He has helped anchor a rotation that has been without Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer for most of the season, but now he is headed to the IL just as Scherzer returns. We don't yet know why Bassitt is being placed on the IL or if he will be required to miss the full 15 days as required by the standard injured list designation.
