Nestor Cortes Jr pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out six in New York’s 6-1 win in Game 2 on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Cortes allowed his only run of the night on a solo home run in the 1st inning before allowing just two singles afterwards. The lefty improves to 7-3 on the year while carrying a 2.44 ERA across 15 starts. Cortes also has 91 strikeouts and just 19 walks (4.8 K:BB) across 85 innings in his first year in pinstripes. Saturday was the first start since June 2 that Cortes completed six innings after posting a 4.15 ERA in June. Cortes will look to make it 2-0 in July in his next start, slated for next Friday in Boston.
