Jordan Montgomery pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight in Kansas City’s 7-4 win against Detroit on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact:
Montgomery falls to 3-2 on the season, earning just his fifth decision in 16 starts this year. Montgomery carries a 3.19 ERA and 1.03 WHIP and has seven quality starts and gone 5+ innings in 14 starts so the lack of decision midway through the season is somewhat baffling and frustrating for fantasy managers along with his just 72 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings. He’s not a fantasy ace but despite his lack of decisions, his ERA and WHIP are a definite plus in all formats. The lefty will take the mound next on Saturday in Boston.
