MJ Melendez went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Kansas City’s 7-6 loss in Houston on Monday.
Melendez received the day off on Sunday and responded in a big way with two home runs. The homers were her first since June 10 but he is now up to eight home runs and 20 RBI in the first 52 games of his career. The rookie slumped through a 17-for-86 (.198) June, but some of that can be attributed to excess time behind the plate and learning the outfield as well. Melendez will continue to play almost everyday, either catching or as DH, with Salvador Perez (thumb) sidelined for months again.
