Zack Greinke shelled for six runs in loss Tuesday

by Luke Monaldo | Wed, Jul 6th 8:26am EDT

Zack Greinke pitched five innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two in Kansas City’s 9-7 loss to Houston on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Greinke had a lead going into the 5th inning but two home runs lead to a 3-run inning that put Kansas City behind for good. It also snapped Greinke’s bid for three straight wins since returning from the 15-day IL on June 24. The loss drops to Greinke to 2-5 on the year and Tuesday’s poor outing raised his ERA nearly half a run from 4.38 to 4.85. Greinke didn’t miss many bats on Tuesday, tying a season high with 10 hits allowed and his low strike out total (34 in 68 2/3 innings) make him hard to rely on for fantasy managers, especially given what we have come to expect from the 38-year old former Cy Young winner and two-time ERA champion with his 219 career wins. His next start come Sunday against the Guardians.
