J.D. Martinez breaks out of lull with three-hit game Tuesday

by Andersen Pickard | Mets Correspondent | Wed, Jul 6th 8:35am EDT

Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez went 3-for-5 with a single and two doubles against the Rays on Tuesday evening. He also scored a run and struck out twice. Boston ultimately fell to Tampa Bay by a score of 8-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Entering Tuesday, Martinez had gone just 2-for-25 (.080) over his last six games, so even though he struck out twice against Tampa Bay, it was refreshing to see him smash the ball in play. The 34-year-old is slashing .312/.379/.493 with eight homers, 33 RBI, 28 walks, and 74 strikeouts this season. He should still be rostered in all fantasy baseball leagues.
