Max Scherzer tremendous in win over Braves on Saturday

by Dan Harris | Mets Correspondent | Sat, Aug 6th 10:37pm EDT

Max Scherzer allowed four hits and struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Braves. He earned the win, moving to 8-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Once again, Scherzer was almost comically dominant, generating 23 whiffs and a 35% CSW rate. His slider was particularly effective with a 57% whiff rate and he allowed only two hard-hit balls all evening. He's now down to just a 1.98 ERA and 0.90 WHIP, and because of his earlier oblique injury, he's thrown just 95 2/3 innings this season. In other words, Scherzer should have plenty left in the tank for the stretch run, and you can start him every time out, including in his next outing against the Phillies.
