MJ Melendez homers in win vs Red Sox Saturday

MJ Melendez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Kansas City’s 5-4 win against Boston on Saturday.

Melendez’s leadoff solo home run in the 1st inning gave the Royals a 1-0 lead on Saturday night. The homer was Melendez’s 12 of the season and second in his last three games. Melendez has now hit safely in three straight games going 4-for-11 (.367) with two home runs, two walks, four RBI, and three runs scored after going 0-for-12 to start August. Melendez continues to start in left field now that Salvador Perez has returned behind the plate.
