Matt Manning tossed seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 loss to the Rays on Sunday. Manning struck out seven, walked three, and allowed four hits while taking a no-decision.
Fantasy Impact:
Manning turned in the best start of his young career, notching 13 swinging strikes while holding a solid Tampa lineup scoreless. The 24-year-old has struggled to get strikeouts at the big league level but he averaged 10.9 K/9 over his career in the minors. If he can start figuring out how to miss bats at in the majors, he has the talent to become a viable fantasy starting pitcher in all formats. Manning is scheduled to face the White Sox on Saturday for his next start.
