Matt Carpenter (foot) will not need surgery, still out six-to-eight weeks

Matt Carpenter saw a Seattle Seahawks foot specialist on Wednesday and discovered he will not require surgery on the fracture in his left foot because it was a clean break according to MLB.com's Doug Miller. (Doug Miller, MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Despite the clean break and lack of required surgery, Carpenter is still expected to miss six-to-eight weeks recovering. This timeline would have him returning in late September or early October. The Yankees are hoping for the earlier date to allow him to regain his timing at the plate before the playoffs begin rather than refining it with the season on the line. As for fantasy managers, feel free to cut Carp in redraft formats as his regular season might be done unless you want to stash him in hopes of plugging him in with your own season hopes on the line in the fantasy playoffs coming off an extended layoff and fractured foot.
