Scott Barlow strikes out two, earns save Thursday

by Luke Monaldo | Guardians Correspondent | Thu, Aug 11th 11:01pm EDT

Scott Barlow pitched one inning, allowing one run on one hit and no walks while striking out two to earn the save in Kansas City’s 5-3 win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

Barlow served up an 0-2 home run to Andrew Vaughn to leadoff the 9th inning but settled in strikeout the next two batters and record the final three outs in order. Barlow is now 18-for-21 in save opportunities this season. The 29-year-old closer is now 4-4 with a 2.32 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings across 50 appearances. The save was just Batlow’s second since the All-Star break as manager Mike Matheny has elected to also use Barlow in high leverage situations that aren’t necessarily “save” situations.
