Scott Efross pitched one inning, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks while striking out one in New York’s 3-2 win in Boston on Saturday night.
Effross struck out Jarren Duran leading off the 9th inning before surrendering back-to-back singles to out the winning run at 1st base with one out. Effross settled down and induced a weak fielder's choice in front of the plate on a nice play by Jose Trevino and a pop-out to Anthony Rizzo to end the game. Effross earned his second save of the season and first in pinstripes. Effross sports a 4.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with five strikeouts in six innings across six appearances since being acquired by New York at the trade deadline.
