Ryan Yarbrough relieved opener JT Chargois in the second inning of Friday's game against the Red Sox. He allowed five runs, eight hits, and two walks over 3 1/3 innings, recording just three strikeouts. He was charged with the loss as Tampa Bay ultimately fell to Boston by a score of 9-8.
Yarbrough had a tough first four months this season, but he bounced back by stringing together two scoreless outings in the middle of August. His success halted on Friday night in Boston as he dropped to 1-8 with a 4.87 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and .279 OBA. He also owns a 7.11 K/9 and 2.37 BB/9, the latter of which represents his worst mark since 2018.
