Pete Fairbanks slams door on Red Sox
by Andersen Pickard | Rays Correspondent | Mon, Sep 5th 7:48pm EDT
Pete Fairbanks surrendered just one hit and struck out two batters while pitching a scoreless ninth inning against the Red Sox on Monday. He earned the save as Tampa Bay ultimately defeated Boston by a score of 4-3 in the series opener.
Fantasy Impact:
Fairbanks owns a 1.53 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, and .180 OBA through 17 2/3 innings this season. He has also posted a brilliant 13.25 K/9 and 0.51 BB/9 while going 5-for-5 in save situations. He also hasn't allowed a run since July 22. The Rays like to spread the saves around, but if there's one closer on the team to roster, it's Fairbanks.
