Dakota Hudson tossed eight strong innings on the mound in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, allowing one run on six hits while also walking two and striking out five in the Cardinals' 5-1 win over the Reds.

Hudson has allowed three runs or less in four of his last six starts for the Cardinals, posting a mediocre 23K/17BB ratio in that span. The right-hander carries a 1.40 WHIP and 4.16 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 25 starts (8-7) on the mound this season.
